Kawkab Shishani' research has focused on using epidemiological methodologies to identify factors impeding tobacco use. The primary impediments identified were the availability and access to smoking cessation programs. Her work on the current lab-based behavioral pharmacology feasibility study has expanded her knowledge of the self-regulation of nicotine administration through a fuller understanding of the role puff topography plays in self-administration and how it can modulate reinforcing efficacy. Kawkab’s goal is to translate the knowledge gained from the lab-study into a behavioral treatment program for hookah smoking cessation. Another area she is interested in is global health because she feels humans are the resources; and that’s what makes all nations rich because of the people not anything else. Therefore, she feels the most valuable investment is in educating people and it can be achieved by establishing new avenues in partnerships and collaboration to share knowledge and expertise at the global level.
